Purchasing your propane in advance of the winter home heating season will help you avoid the hassle and inconvenience of fluctuating gas prices. But do it now, because there is a limited supply of propane available for this program.

Q: What is a Pre-Buy Program?
A: This program offers you the opportunity to purchase your propane for the coming winter season at a fixed price per gallon for the billing months of October 1, 2019 through April 30, 2020.
Q: How many gallons should I purchase?
A: Normally, it’s whatever amount you think you will use this winter. We can recommend the number of gallons based on your delivery history; however, you have the option to purchase more propane, or less.
Q: I received my pre-buy letter and it shows that I had zero consumption last year?
A: This indicates that you purchased propane from Consolidated Gas outside of the traditional winter heating season. You are still eligible to participate in the Pre-Buy Program. Please call us if you would like to review your annual propane purchases to see if this program can benefit you.
Q: What if I need more propane than the number of gallons I pre-purchased?
A: That’s okay. Any additional gallons will be billed at the prevailing market rate.
Q: How can I pay for my Pre-Buy Program?
A: Cash, check, money order, and debit or credit card can be used to make your payment. Credit cards accepted include Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Note: We apologize for any inconvenience, but we can only accept checks by mail. If you are paying by cash or using a credit card, due to industry regulations we will need to ask you to stop by our office to pay for the Pre-Buy Program.
Q: What happens if the price per gallon of propane decreases?
A: Nothing. You’ve pre-purchased a supply of propane for the heating season, so your price per gallon will not fluctuate upward or downward. Although it is unlikely that the price per gallon will decrease during a heating season, it is possible.
Q: What happens if I don’t end up using the entire amount of propane that I pre-purchased?
A: Any gallons of pre-paid propane not delivered by April 30, 2020 will not be refunded. A credit will be applied to your account.
Q: If I used less propane than I purchased, can I just put the extra gallons toward next year?
A: No. the money you paid will remain on your account as a credit, but propane must be renegotiated each year for quantity and price.
Q: How will I know when I’ve completely used all the pre-purchased gallons?
A: If you purchase propane by the tank, you’ll receive a fill slip after each delivery stating the number of gallons delivered. If what we put in the tank (bulk fill members) exceeds the gallons you’ve pre-purchased, you will be charged the applicable market price for propane not pre-purchased. You can also call the office and request a breakdown of all deliveries from the time of purchase to the current date.
