Flying Horse Farms is a non-profit, medical specialty camp in Mt. Gilead that provides free camp experiences for kids with serious illnesses and their families.
Since opening in 2010, Flying Horse Farms has provided more than 11,000 experiences to kids and young adults ages 7-21 and their families, from Ohio and beyond. In 2024, their camp saw:
- Over 1,000 camper experiences
- 1,500 volunteer experiences
- 110 volunteer projects completed over 2,700 hours
Their camp makes it possible for kids with a wide variety of diagnoses and their families to experience more smiles, joy, and connection. Flying Horse Farm’s mission serves kids with diagnoses including cancer, heart conditions, rheumatologic diagnoses, blood disorders, lung conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, craniofacial diagnoses, spinal cord diagnoses and internalized mental health diagnoses (anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, mood disorders, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and panic disorder for campers ages 11-15).
The community behind camp consists of campers, families, volunteers, donors, and staff – all dedicated to creating a more inclusive world where belonging, friendship, and happiness drive us all forward.
“Every camper story is filled with resilience and inspires more,” Nichole E. Dunn, President and CEO of Flying Horse Farms shared. “Because let’s imagine a place where sense of belonging, understanding, and the courage to be fearless are what matter most. A world driven by joy and friendship, where connection brings healing and hope. Wouldn’t that be a world we all want to be a part of?”
